GETTING TO KNOW NORTHERN HILLS
The best way to grow is to get connected with God’s people. Here you’ll discover more about our mission, heart and values. If you’re new to Northern Hills, we’d love to have you join us for lunch on us! It’s our way of saying, “Welcome to Northern Hills!” Getting to Know Northern Hills gives you the opportunity to meet and share a meal with our pastors.
Rooted Groups meet at Northern Hills to delve into life together and discipleship. We encourage every person at Northern Hills to go through Rooted first when joining a group. Our home groups, called LifeGroups, are inspiring gatherings of 7-20 people meeting regularly in homes. Both Rooted Groups and LifeGroups learn about God together and share about their lives. Groups meet for 10 weeks, so it’s short-term commitment and easy to see if it’s a fit for you. You were created to experience life with other people.
FIND YOUR PLACE TO SERVE
We believe that each believer has received a special gift and should employ it in serving others, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Spiritual giftedness and maturity determines where and how a believer serves. (1 Peter 4:10)
Do you believe that first impressions can make a huge impact and that creating an accepting and inviting environment is a must? Great! So do we.
The Guest Services Team influences every single guest before, during and following all services on Sunday morning by providing a friendly, engaging, yet comfortable environment for our guests and church family to encounter God.
The purpose of the Greeter Team is to prepare the hearts of people by welcoming everyone with a warm and appropriate greeting which includes a smile and a handshake.
This team is responsible for passing communion and offering during Sunday services.
The purpose of the Welcome Desk is to help people connect to the various ministries at Northern Hills by answering questions and providing next step options for getting involved.
Check-in and Children’s Welcome Team
Team members help families check-in kids to their rooms during services and events.
The Connector Team aids the Greeter Team in moving people to their appropriate next step of connecting with other opportunities to engage in at Northern Hills.
Emergency Response Team
Medical and security professionals on-call to respond to on-campus emergencies.
Dancers, actors, painters, musicians, singers, builders, designers, graphic artists, videographers, photographers, and techies, but most importantly, servant-hearted people who love the house of God. We believe that our God is a creative God, and that He created us to be creative. This is why we gather. This is why we create. To honor our God by using the gifts and talents that He placed in all of us to serve His church.
As a band member, you will help create artistic moments in our services that are engaging and excellent; from Metallica to Hillsong United, and everything in between! If you play an instrument (what ever it may be), and can play it well with a band, this might be the team for you. Demos and auditions are required.
As a vocalist, you will help create artistic moments in our services that are engaging, excellent and authentic. We tackle a wide variety of music, so all vocal styles are welcome to apply (maybe not Screamo…but never say never!) If you’re able to stay on pitch, in rhythm and sing in front of large groups of people, this might be the team for you. Demos and auditions are required.
The Worship Arts Tech is a team of skilled people who make everything work at all of our services in every venue. Sound, lighting, video, projection, stage, and sets are all part of this team. We provide training for those who would like to learn one of the many technical areas required to help make the Sunday worship experience transformational.
Graphic Design Team
Graphics, design, page layout and project management for series promotional pieces, special events and web projects. Balance form and function to meet objectives and move people to respond.

Preschool & Elementary Team
If you are interested in helping love and guide kids during these formative years, we have a place for you. There are teams for small group leaders, large group teachers, tech, material prep, puppets, drama, worship and special events.
Be the point person for a Sunday morning service. Zone Servants check classrooms making sure teachers are present, children are safe, and everyone has what they need.
Praise and Worship Team
“Raise the Roof” as you lead children to worship God through music, song and dance.
STUDENT EIKON TEAMS
Are you one of those people that hear the term “student” and get excited at the influence you could have on their lives? Do you have a passion to help them in their journey with Christ? Eikon is all about helping our students take their next steps toward Christ. To help make that happen, we create a positive environment in which students feel a sense of belonging and acceptance. We break out the middle and high school students into two different programs—so pick which one fires you up, or pick both. The main event happens on Sundays, but occasionally there are opportunities throughout the week. You already know but we’ll tell you anyway, background checks are required.
IF YOU ENJOY:
- Hanging with students (grades 6–12)
- Encouraging & nurturing
- Building relationships with students
- Facilitating conversations
- Staying young at heart
- Events (groups and mission trips)
We believe small groups are a great way to connect, make new friends and take next steps towards Christ, and in every successful group there is a leader. We have a team of volunteers who each guide a group of same-sex students through this journey we call life.
Tech & Worship Arts Teams
Our Arts leaders help our students take their next step in the auditorium. If you value empowering students by sharing your skills, this might be the place for you. Music, lights, cameras and photography—we have students who want to learn from you!
Facility Care is made up of teams that care for and maintain the interior and exterior of our buildings and our grounds. Together we are committed to excellence, hospitality and stewardship. We want to provide a place where our guests can focus fully on God without distractions. Our volunteers partner in caring for over 102,000 square feet of space.
The maintenance team keeps our facilities in like‐new condition year round. These are very specialized tasks that save the church thousands in tithe dollars every year. Our volunteers utilize their skills in mechanical areas like plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, HVAC, general construction and maintenance. If your skill set includes these specialized vocations and you have some flexible time, you should consider this team.
IF YOU ENJOY:
- Set up & tear down
- Interior design
- Clean environments
Weekend White Glove
These dedicated volunteers devote themselves to the preparation of the facility space on the weekends. It’s not the most glamorous ministry, but it holds huge value for our weekend guests. Because we believe that excellence matters to God, we value the way our facility space looks to those who attend.
Interior Design Team
Work with other talented people to decorate for special occasions and for facility improvement projects. (e.g., “Hanging of the Greens” at Christmastime)
The Grounds Care Team maintains our campus and property that empower Northern Hills ministries and honor God.

- Mowing & weed whacking
- Gardening & landscaping

LOCAL AND GLOBAL OUTREACH
Taking the love of Jesus Christ outside of the walls of our church building is nothing new to our volunteers. If you love helping people throughout the community, Northern Hills offers multiple opportunities to share that love by assisting at-risk men, women and children.
Cold Weather Care
Northern Hills is honored to serve as a lodging site between October and April for homeless individuals and families. NH provides overnight housing at the church, one week at a time, on a rotating basis with other lodging churches for approximately 15-20 people. This is a place where our homeless neighbors can come and spend the night in a warm room, eat a hot meal and be ministered to with love and dignity.
North Elementary is a title 1 elementary school in Brighton that we partner with. These children are simply in need of caring adults that will love and spend time with them. There are many opportunities to serve such as reading, eating lunch or playing basketball with them, coordinate obtaining school/office supplies, volunteering at an afterschool program, or mentoring a student weekly.
Community of Faith
Community of Faith United is a local mission providing services to recover from hardships such as loss of job or injury on the job. This ministry helps struggling families or individuals with the basic survival needs and these efforts result in a healthier community through the use of volunteers. Mentoring, resume assistance, interview skills, computer skills, job search assistance and food pantry/clothing bank are examples of serving opportunities.

Bolivia Mission Team
Our time in Bolivia will be spent assisting with the work of a Compassion church in La Paz and the surrounding area. We’ll be helping with the children, assisting with a variety of work-based projects and a food outreach to the community.
Northern Hills has adopted more than 400 children from the La Paz, Bolivia area through Compassion International. Compassion partners with churches to help them provide Bolivian children with the opportunity to rise above their circumstances and become all God has created them to be.
